Referral Procedures

Concerns/Problems are Identified
By the teacher or other professionals. Interventions have already been attempted and information gathered.

Referral Agreed To
By the class teacher / principal and the parent. The referral form is signed and posted.

Selection Committee
Accepts or declines the referral.

Initial Visit
Specific difficulties are discussed and the strategies already tried. Interim strategies are may be suggested while base line data is gathered.
NOTE: Some teacher release time may be necessary.

Learning Behaviour Teacher Gathers Data
This may involve classroom observations, talking with parents, discussion with other teachers and adults involved and academic testing if necessary.

Return Visit
On this visit the Learning and Behaviour teacher will discuss possible interventions and with the teacher and together they will put together a plan.
NOTE: Teacher release time may be necessary.

Implementation
The RTLB will provide the necessary help and guidance to the classroom teacher/teachers aid etc to put the intervention package into action.

Further Visits: Maintance/Follow-Up
Further visits and feedback sessions will occur as necessary. At times program’s will be modified and possibly more data gathered and interventions changed.

Discontinuation
Students on the RTLB roll will be discontinued when appropriate learning and/or behaviours are being displayed and discussion has taken place with the teacher.
