After School Enrichment Curriculum

We want our kids to experience as much as they can and the after school focus continues.

The school does all the usual consultative  and communication things and
from 1998 we have been extending our facilities outside school hours to
encourage children, parents and families to work and  recreate together at
school to hopefully support growth within the areas of a  work ethic,
      inclusive behaviour and intellectual/academic vision.

The areas in 2002 that support this idea are :-

  • the homework centre in the library with book and computer information facilities which will support reading, homework and research activities. The homework centre is supported by a teacher working from 2.30 until 4.00pm daily.
  •  a computer programme that runs in the library from 8.00 am until 4.00pm and enriches children through reading, writing, mathematics and science activities.
  •  the computer centre which is a resource that can be used for homework and  computer processing activities......even email and internet involvement.
  • the music room, where the school has a huge resource in electric guitars,  drum sets and keyboards.
  • Kapa Haka and Samoan and Cook Island Culture groups that extend the culture.
  • focus to performance standards.
  • a host of sport and recreation that is supervised by teachers and ancillary  staff and parents which often involves competing against other schools at the Community Centre.

The Board of Trustees funds the tutors that support these programmes and  many teachers and teacher associates also help with the instruction.

All this extra is, of course, free to parents and kids......simply because we want the learning to be better.
